Week #9

Now that the painting is complete, it's time to think about the floors.  Throughout the rest of our home, our hard wood floor has been able to be refinished.  However, the patch work and glue that was used when installing layers of vinyl wasn't nice to the floor, and we weren't able to save the floor in the kitchen.  Dining room...yes, we were.  Therefore, we went to Carpet City in Wausau, where we had a very good experience when we picked out our tile for the master shower.  Alex and the other gentleman in that store were very knowledgeable and helpful.  I'd recommend going there for any of your flooring/tiling needs.

But before I get into the flooring......I just have to say that our cabinets were delivered this past Tuesday!  Sandi with Creative Designs in Cabinetry out of Medford helped us out with our kitchen layout.  She was wonderful to work with!  Highly recommend!  Great Northern Cabinetry out of Rib Lake works with Sandi, and are the ones who built our cabinets.

It sure looks like a lot of boxes!!

Next step was to start ripping out the kitchen floor so we can get it replaced.
Great job for the young bucks, Carter and Parker.

The boys still working at it.
Before you know it, it was all ripped out!
The next morning I was able to clean up and vacuum so it's ready for the the next step.

Robert Ross Construction came back and installed the sub floor.  Ready for the flooring!
Atticus with Rib Falls Electric has been a great asset to this project.  We were lucky to find such a great electrician!

Robert Ross Construction needed to patch this area up for us.  We used some of the boards that were still in good condition from the original kitchen to match with this heartwood maple area.

And this is what it looks like today.  They were able to start the flooring on Friday.  They'll be able to finish this up on Monday.

This door was something I thought would be a nice addition to this project. Originally this door wasn't supposed to be here until Monday, the 27th, so I was very happy when this showed up yesterday.  Luckily, Ross Construction was here on Friday working on the floor, so they took some time out and got the door in.  I'm so happy they did!!
It's such a beautiful door that will allow in so much light in the kitchen/dining room space.

So there you have it!  I am actually caught up with this blog!  I can't believe it!
After the flooring is done in the kitchen, the cabinets can be installed.  After the cabinets are installed, we can get the counter top in, the sink and faucet.  We can also sand and refinish the floor in the dining room.  Install fixtures......

In another week, the roof and siding will start.  It's all starting to come together.

Monday will start week #10 with this phase of remodeling.  Thank goodness for my camper to help with cooking.  However, I'm ready for it to be over.  I don't think I want to vacation in my camper for awhile.  LOL

Stay tuned....

Site Prep for New Shed & Patching West Foundation Wall

Remember when our shed collapsed in an earlier post?  Well, even though we have the house project going on right now, we also need to get our shed replaced.  Laddick Trucking has come in with about 1692 yards of granite (that's about 94 truck loads).  Whoa!!

Between Jay and Carter, they spread and packed for many MANY hours.

Rock it!

With help from Tracy Lang and Mikayla Mathwich, I think we nailed the colors.  I really love it!  Can't wait for the cabinets and flooring now!
